Howdy...
I just received and installed the latest new firmware from X6 (new files for the remote, the heli, and the config file)... I did a quick test in my driveway to ensure everything was good, and the heli felt really nice and stable...
I haven't flown it professionally yet (will likely do a job later this week, weather permitting).
Has anyone else used the new firmware? If so, what differences do you notice?

Not yet. Air2Air suggested we hang on until they have put it through their paces. Still waiting to hear back. Must chase them...
Any obvious changes to handling?

I went on my first professional shoot this morning with the X6. Fairy light winds, just a few gusts...
I have to say, the X6 felt much 'surer' of itself than previously. More responsive to control input, faster to respond, and most stable in the air when in GPS and altitude hold. Less drift.
It might have just been the conditions, but I would say that it felt more 'confident', if that even makes sense.
I have another shoot this afternoon where the winds will no doubt be a little stronger. Will report back.
Best,
Ben

OK, back from my second shoot. Stronger winds, and gustier. With the old firmware, I would likely not have flown....but I was determined to try the new firmware...
Maybe it's me, or maybe it's just psychosomatic, but I felt A LOT more confident with this new firmware... The bird was still blown around in the wind, but it felt like it corrected faster, and responded stronger.
GPS hold seems to be more 'locked on' with far less drift, and no flying in circles or ovals...
What can I tell you... it's all subjective... But to me, this is a very significant upgrade...
I'd love to hear your opinions.
Best,
Ben

Great Ben! Firmware or not....everyflight is a nerve wrack for me.... My X6 performs flawlessly....but never take my eyes of her.... And never fly it into the sun. Check out some of my recent shots on my site www.aerialart.com

I just returned from test flying the new firmware and Ben's right. The system feels more responsive and more stable.
Ben's "more confident" description is probably the best way to describe it.

i did mine and it is flying more stable and has better response. there is less vibration so video is much better. one thing that has made video usable for me is the .5x wide angle lens adjustment, what a difference!!!! now my issue is that the gps does not lock. it just blinks in red on the controller 0 on one and 99 in the other field for the gps. there is one thing or the other here is a video that i did with the .5 lens and it is super good finally!! it is on there in 720p HD www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BU8uiyGDuQthis video is straight from the camera with out any stabilization. this would be super stable with one pass trough deshaker and virtualdub. any questions please ask. in my opinion that .5 lens widening is the key to good video but that is just my opinion.

Can you give us a little more info as to the .5 lens that you're using?

sorry for the long time coming!! I just got a cheap one from best buy www.bestbuy.com/site/Sunpak+-+0.5x+Wide-Angle+Converter+Lens+for+Digital+Cameras/7726482.p?id=1138088031107&skuId=7726482&st=wide%20angle%20lensI was thinking that I would then upgrade to a nicer one but this is going to be great. in stabilization I loose a little around the edges where the adapter is a little soft so that comes out great since it is very sharp in the center. I did end up sending my x6 back to dragan for the upgrades that it needs and I must say that Cory has been most helpful and very fast on responding to emails. the only thing was that I had to pay for my own shipping to have the x6 upgraded for something that was a potential catastrophic flaw, the dreaded canopy. I am so happy that I had the heart to fly the x6 as ugly as it is, with out the canopy for months. i just never trusted it and it was easy to chance batteries. they need to design a slot that the batteries clip in to in stead of having to take the top off every battery change. so anyway codos to to Draganfly for better and better service, now the just need to forecast less wind

Like for everyone else here, the new firmware has been great for me. I almost always fly with the altitude hold as I find manual control a little unpredictable - Now it really is rock solid! Even in manual mode. Im loving it!

just got mine back from DF and they did all updates and this thing is rock solid. finally this is working like it was meant to do. awesome job DF I am so happy flying around with the wind in my hair the canopy is with a new latch that should hold and this thing is as stable as I have ever seen. even in some wind it is great. seems like the response to adjustments in the wind are softer and the altitude hold is really holding. has never done that for me before. great great update!!!!! very excited and happy with how DF did the service and updates with a smile. great, I am so happy now! looking like some things are coming my way and I am finally confident in that the DF will fly and do what I need it to do!
