Hello skyshark, The wind at ground level has been 4-6mph. the guy's that have seen this happen think almost the same except there thinking it dosn't react quick enough, I can hold it better in manual mode than in GPS hold mode. Dragafly has said that I should put it where I want it then throw the swicth for GPS hold, when in GPS hold I can move it to another spot and it should hold there. if it's zero to no more than 2-4mph winds it dose great any higher and it's all over the place. when it's come close to the ground I am ready to take it out of GPS and throw the left stick forward. The very first flight we lifted it of in manual mode and trimed it out, so it was stable, just like our regular rc heli's, after we felt cofortable we put it into GPS hold mode, from day one I had problem's, after talking with Dragafly and sending them data, and they even sent me a differant GPS modual and antenna, still had problems, finialy they asked me to check my trim's, and set them to zero, after that it was a differant heli at least in 0-4mph wids it dose ok. I think gust play a big part in it even small gust, thats why we think it should react to any changes quicker it might hold better in the wind ? anyway the next thing Dranafly has asked me to do is video a flight for them, we did that two week's ago but the guy that did it said he would email me the video and I havn't seen it yet and I havn't seen him since.

Howdy...
Nice to see some discussion going on...
I'd like to suggest that folks start new topics on particular concerns so that this one thread doesn't go on and on.... :-)
That having been said, welcome to everyone...owners and prospective owners alike...

Hello everyone.
I found this group a couple of days ago while Googling for X6 info and wound up posting some off-topic questions/comments in the "Shoot in New Orleans" section (sorry about that Ben).
I was spent most of last Monday (May 11th) at Draganfly. The X6 is an impressive system and the "Dragan crew" seem like a good group to deal with.
I had an "interesting" chat yesterday with my insurance agent about the X6. She is genuinely interested (which is a good sign) and hopefully will get the go-ahead by early June.
I'd like to thank Ben for creating this discussion group and also thank the members for keeping it constructive/supportive. I've seen a lot of r/c heli boards that like to bash the X6 and it doesn't appear that any of their members actually own one.

hey and welcome to the board!
my insurance agent was very interested as well!! he wanted me to come and take photos of his office but thought I was crazy to ask for insurance for the X6. the only place that I have found that would do any insurance was in Arizona and it was liability only and I think he quoted me 1000 a month for 100k liability. not a good option. I have flown mine in strong wind, in trees and taken some very hard landings and this thing is rugged as hell. great construction for crashing and I hope that now that is over with and I am getting better flying and the X6 better dialed in and no more worries. onwards and upwards!!!
ok edit after reading in another post that you guys have found the insurance company in arizona. I think that the ones that I spoke with was the arialpak

According to Transport Canada, if I'm X6'ing as a hobby (strictly recreational use) then no worries. But as soon as it turns into a commercial activity then liability insurance is mandatory and they really do enforce it (I met someone who found out the hard way).
$1000 for $100k... yikes!! My insurance agent was talking about $2500 for $2mil.

sRagnar
Just re-read your insurance rate. I missed the per month part, are they nuts??!! My $2500 rate was for a full year, assuming they actually decide to offer the policy. I'll know one way or the other sometime next week.

sRagnar, Wow! It's nice to hear that the X6 can take a beating and keep flying. One of the X6 engineers states that it can survive a crash from 20-30 feet with little or no repairs. Amazing! Insurance: Yeah...anything that cost that much should be insured whether for pleasure or business. I'd call it a good investment.

yea i would not be surprised that it could. I know that it will take about a 15 foot drop the landing gear is the weak point and the blades. the rest is bullet proof.

Hi Guys, Not an X6 owner yet.. still doing some research. Your forum is great- I appreciate all the honest comments. Gosh, it's expensive, wind is a big issue, and payload, (although great compared to the weight of the X6), still isn't much. But, it still looks like the best thing out there, and the wow factor sure can't hurt!
Are you finding (not considering wind, and all the associated issues), that you're pleased with the quality of the LX3 photos from altitude of 20'-100'? If I enlarge a pic to an 11 x 14 size to print... am I going to have a decent quality? How long is the learning curve on flying it accurately to get good results? I plan on flying it (pilot, but no helicopter or rc time), with my photographer doing his part.. he knows that side much better than me! Between the 2 of us, hopefully we can get some great pictures!
Can we be up and running effeciently in a somewhat short time frame? Within time- he'll be flying it himself, and has no previous aviation experience. Has anyone found insurance for the x6 itself, or just liability? I've checked with aerialpak, but they're not covering the heli, just the liability nowadays.
Thanks for any help! Sheri
