Someone had noticed that during GPS hold, their X6 seemed to make circles or ovals in the sky.
I have had this happen too, and Draganfly has told me that it's due to poor calibration of the X6's magnometer. If you're experiencing this, try re-performing the calibration routine in the manual...
Let me know your experience.

Hello Ben, My X6 dose this allot, I have performed the magnetic declination and inclination at least 6 times, I haven't done the hard iron calibration as when I checked it, it was well within spec's at 4-6 deg. it's not easy to check as there is nothing square on the X6 I made up a flat board approx 2'x2' and marked out square lines and would line up the rear arm with the lines on the board.

I just ordered this for collecting wind data, www.inspeed.com/wind_data_logging/Windware_Wind_Speed_Data_kit.asp With this setup I should be able to get wind speeds at differant hieght's from ground level to 50' in an email to Cory I sent him a link to what I was using to mesure wind and asked if it would be ok, I didn't get an awnser, I would like to know how they are mesuring wind speed ? hey, in lock mine seems very stable in the gps. it does a little sliding around but very minimal and nothing that I would complain about. i got something called Windmate 200 that will tell wind direction average and max wind speed. I have not been able to use it much but one day i had it out and the wind was average about 10 miles on the ground and the gps did get a good lock. it was hard flying it but when i locked it at about 100 feet up it was fairly stable in all directions. some drifting but not to bad. speedtech.com/product.asp?s=dbst6n448066&strParents=&CAT_ID=110&P_ID=445I flew it today in still weather and the video from the lumix is very shaky and has lot of vibration. there are some videos on the draganfly web site, you guys have any input on that?

Well the weather Sat. the 11th was cold and windy to windy to fly the X6. I did get the DVD disk of flying the X6 from the 28th, the video was OK but not for showing what the X6 is doing, it was zoomed in to much, no reference point's. I'm going out again this morning, just hope theres not to much wind. typed in the zip code and it said 6mph around 9-10am so I'll see. Monte

Helicrazi,
Thanks for uploading the video to Youtube. It's very beneficial to actually see what you are talking about. The X6 was all over the place on the third video. It was certainly apparent that it wasn't the wind. I've been doing a lot of research on Microdrones' MD4-200 and Draganflyer X6. Is it possible that the carbon fiber is interfering with some of the sensor reading?? I've noticed that the underside of the Microdrones MD4-200 is just foam padding. I imagine that it saves on weight...and possible allows the sensors to get good readings. I'm just speculating.
Once again thanks for the video. Hopefully your problem will be remedied in the near future. Would you trust the GPS over hazardous areas...such as water?

Your welcome skyshark, I'm not sure whats causing it, other owners don't seem to be having a problem ? as far as over water, it shouldn't be a problem, are you thinking water would interfere with the GPS ? the X6 flies great in manual mode in low wind's very stable and very quite. but you need the GPS mode for taking picture's and the X6 is way to expensive without that feature thats why we bought it so it could be a one man operation. I truly believe that the X6 would do better if it was scaled up a bit, it would handle more wind, 12mph isn't really that much. Monte

Called this morning, left a message for Cory again. called back Gram awnsered said Cory wasn't in yet, I asked when he'd be back, was told he was training a custermer and would be back at 3:00. I mentioned to Gram that I sent in video and logfiles Monday and called and emailed and havn't heard anything. he said he'd get on Cory and ask him to call. he also said he'd talk to Greg and see if he could find out anything for me. hear it is friday again. another weeks gone by. two months now and it's not resolved.

Helicrazi,
Sorry for posting so much on this forum. I did a little digging around on the internet and found that some areas in deserts have something called GPS signal bounce. It's where the signals get bounced off of mountains and other natural and man made objects. It can give false readings etc. I noticed that your video was shot out in the desert. It looked pretty flat with the exception of the mountain range in the background. I'll dig around some more and find that site that described it. Anyone else flying their aircraft in dessert?

skyshark, I really appreciate any and all input. at this point I am very frustrated with the whole thing. I called Cory's extension after 3:00 and it went to voice mail. called back and Gram answered the phone, I said I'm still waiting to hear from Cory, he put he on hold came back on and said that they didn't see anything wrong with the log files !!! I knew they wouldn't !!! I asked about the video, he basically implied that if I think there's something wrong I need to send it back !!!!!!!! wow they wanted video I supplied video, no comment on the video !!!!! at this point they can have it back and refund the money including shipping if I ship it back !!!! it's not right. why Cory doesn't return calls or emails is beyond me. I have asked how they measure the wind speed, no reply. I have asked with what they measure wind speed no reply. Skyshark, I have tested this in two different area's 92220 and west of Hemet 92567 I would think that Draganfly would know about signal bounce and would tell me about it and ask me to test fly it in another area ? it's not like it's a regular RC helicopter this is an expensive piece of equipment. Before I ship it back I got the inspeed wind test equipment late today, I'm going to fly it and get exact wind speed's, and what I'm thinking of doing is fly there and be there when they test it. and I want it ether fixed while I'm there or replaced !!!!!!!

Wow Siggi, wonder why it would act up like that in normal mode ? if your in control you should be able to prevent it droping like that, was it like it just didn't respond to your inputs ? mine in normal mode is fine, but I would still never try and fly it in anything but low wind speed's.
