I came across an interesting camcorder sensor comparison and thought I'd pass it along: dvxuser.com/jason/CMOS-CCD/The article basically discusses the differences between CCD and CMOS sensors when they're used in a camcorder. It would appear that for an X6 type of application, CCD based camcorders (like the SD9) are the way to go because they aren't subject to shutter roll.

I had the SD9 for some time and produced good video...low light quality is poor. I now use the TM300 and the quality is light years beyond that of the SD9.
I fly as normal and have yet to encounter any noticeable issues from rolling shutter...at all. When using a deshaking program you have to set the proper rolling shutter amount.

MorenoEnNYC I am also using the TM300 which I agree is so much better than the SD9 and worth using dispite the extra weight. What is a deshaking programme?

Hi Mike,
Deshaker is a video stabilization filter plugin used by several video editing apps. I use it with VirtualDub, which is a free application and is an excellent tool for stabilizing shaky video.

hey guys, we have not yet met! Im Siggi and am in Texas, San Antonio. have had my x6 for 8 months and still learning and crawling through the painful process of trying to generate good video. I am a photographer so video is something that I am trying to learn. do you guys think that the investment in the TM300 is worth the $1200 for better video, that much better? have you guys used or do you use wide angle lenses on the SD9? I am playing with the idea. I am seeing that using the video will be at, for the most parts, low altitude. Therefor i am playing with the idea that making angle wider we would get better looking shots. this might be good for golf courses, architecture and maybe sports?? anyone have 2 cents to toss in to this thought?
what are the workflow you guys follow in editing the video from the SD9. editing and maintaining full quality HD video does not flow well for me. importing the video and editing in avi or mpeg is not hard but there you cant keep the HD quality from what I can tell. I have seen some great video taken from the X6, like what Mikeg had done. the church video is great!! If you guys have some input I would love the help!!

I installed VirtualDub last night, but can't figure out how to get it to open *.mts files from the camcorder.
Can someone help get me started with process?
Thanks

Ignore the previous post.
I purchased "Studio Ultimate" by Pinnacle Software this afternoon. It's surprising what a $100 (Cdn) program can do and it works on my old Intel 1.6Ghz Duo system.
