The tilt mechanism servo for the video camera mount overheats during normal operation. I already had to replace two burnt servos, and at the moment I am using a cheaper one which does not overheat, but movement are very jerky.
Anyone has any idea what could be causing this? (I do not have the same problem with the still camera mount servo.)
Thanks.

it is not the servo, i think it is the mount it self. the way it is tightened together is causing the jerky movement. draganfly advised me to fly slower. the jerky movement is something that I have not been able to fix. if you run deshaker in virtualDub it helps some with the pan motion. try to loosen the little bolts a little bit that hold the lower part in place. the way the design is working against the movement i dont see it being possible to loose the jerking motion all together. the hinge should have better been higher up on the mount creating a better movement there. Dragan said they are prototyping a mount that is much better, wonder if that will be an upgrade that we have to purchase or if that will be a replacement for a poorly design of the original?

I'm not familiar with the mount you're discussing but it doesn't really matter what mount we're talking about - you need to balance the camera on the mounting plate. If not, your servo will always be fighting to hold the position so it will get hot, draw power and provide erratic behavior. On my TREX when I change cameras I disconnect the tilt mechanism so the mounting plate pivots freely. At this point check to make sure it moves freely and if not fix it. I have a slotted mounting hole so when I attach the camera I balance the position, tighten it down and then reconnect everything. Hope this helps.
