New remote looks like it will give Draganflyer a run for it money, to bad its overseas. It looks like it is a lot less expensive, looks like Draganfly will have to lower its prices! Check it out, the 8 blade on looks pretty cool and can carry a lot of weight. www.mikrokopter.com/ucwiki/MikroKopter

microdrones.wordpress.com/Worth reading through this guys older blogs regarding his issues with the company. The pilot in video is very experienced...that elevator mode would scare the $%&^ out of me.

Ohh and Buzz in regards to the "return home" feature....I have never been on a photo shoot where that would actually help. If I'm taking photos of a property/building and the x6 got away on me I would feel more comfortable letting it land where it is than let it autopilot itself in a direct line back home....plowing into buildings/lamp posts or whatever else it finds on the way. It is interesting technology but how practical is it and how legal is it in your country? I know in NZ if I had it fly itself back to me automatically I would be breaking CAA rules.
I spent a lot of time researching before I purchased and I think given a few years the x6 will prob look a bit old...but I can legally use all it's features and am getting good back up support...which as a beginner is almost as important as the machine you use.

They were having problems with a different company. not this one. personally I would like the auto return mode and would think of it as a safety option, helicopter goes out of sight, simply engage the return. For less than $2000.00 great choice, if I am translating their site correctly

LOL....If it goes out of site.... It's a goner......adios amigo..
At 24k US....you just don't let the X6 'go out of site'... By the time you learn how to fly the X6...you will have experienced so many close calls and near misses that you will take GREAT care to have complete control of it. I have quite a few hours logged and now only fly it when there is a reason which is usually some attempt to make money....obviously to pay for it.
When I do fly the X6, it is ONLY in 90%-100% perfect weather for it.....and keep that bird right over my head...practically. If I have to fly over there....I land it ...take it over and launch again...always keeping it VERY near.....
I see no reason what-so-ever for a return home feature as I would never have my X6 so far away that I couldn't easily get it down to me. The entire time I am in the air with my X6 I am puckered.....until I am safely on the ground...or better in the trunk.....job done.
If I want to have fun....I grab one of my hand launch sailplanes and spec it out in a thermal from my front yard.... Now THATS fun!

I just checked out their video. The ascent rate looks impressive, the thing takes off like a rocket.
But like Craig said, the auto-return might present problems if you've flown around something on the outbound portion (like a tree or power lines) and I'm pretty sure the Canadian regulators would get "upset" about auto-return as well.
Elevator mode looks like fun as well... but way too scary for me.

Speaking of Auto return...here's an interesting link. I'm not sure how old it is but they're showing research of UAV that can detect objects and avoid them. The future looks bright if govt regulations start loosening up about "line of sight" and "in control" clauses... www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNVY6clDj7E
