I am on the same page as you all. I hope they are working hard and I hope that I will see the fruit of that labor. otherwise I am stuck with a flight platform that is to light to function as a paperweight. i had some very positive experience on parts support, sent overnight and delivered with a big smile. they went over what they had to and I respect that. I feel that they are doing what they can to scramble this thing together. They should not have started selling this at the time they did. Being a beta tester at a full price hurts and it must hurt them as well. Selling and having something this cool and with this kind of potential it must be handled by them in every way 100% perfectly. you cant have something like this and not just kill your self to have customers that are very very happy and singing from every rooftop how cool this thing is. I love the x6 but like most love it is not with out pain. wind, video range, control range and mounts must be fixed. I know they are working on that and I am very happy and excited to see the upgrades as they come true. I hope that this will be as cool as i hoped!! Siggi "Balls" Ragnar the iceman out!!

Sure hope to hear from DF would be nice to know if they've looked at it and what they think, also when it might be done.

Recived the X6 back yesterday, haven't been able to fly as yet hope to this evening. so far been going through the new manual, looks good. it appers that they have made some changes to the controler, the left stick has more resistance for throttle, witch shoud be better so when you yaw or pan you won't move the throttle.

As a new member to the forum I agree the the X6 preforms very badly in the wind, as is not as advertised on the website and demos. The video camera mount I also think is of poor design and I have high speed vibrations which makes things look soft focus, as well as wobble. I have made some improvements to the stability of the camera mount but am still working on it. I am also flying with a heavier camera a Panasonic HDC-TM300 with wide angle adapter all weighing in at 470 grams which in within the payload but it really struggles in the wind. But the picture from the TM 300 are much better. With the heavier load my flight time is a 8-9 mins which is not good but think the picture improvement is worth it. The SD 9 is a very old camera now and we must look at the new cameras which are rapidly coming out with improved picture quality and find a way of adapting them to the X6 camera mount.

mikeg A couple of questions if you don't mind (myX6 should be arriving about mid-September). What's involved in using a different video camera? Is it pretty much plug 'n play or is a bit of "fiddling around" required? I'm also hoping to replace their still camera with a Canon G10. I'll use one of these: blip.com.au/item.aspx?itemid=14to control the camera. All I'll need to do is figure out how to connect "URBI" to the X6. I wish I'd paid more attention to the camera connections when I was in Saskatoon last Spring.

Mikeg
do you you have any problems with rolling shutter effects on that camera?

The video and the tutorial make a lot of sense. I have a small electric helicopter that's meant for indoors. It's actually too large for flying inside, but too light to fly outside. The drift technique makes so much sense. I think people just need to overcome the fear of watching their craft drift in an area they did not intend.
Obstacle must be taken into consideration when you use the drift techniques. Specifically: trees. :-) The tutorial is well written and makes sense.

Hello all,
Just got into this (new) discussion board and I am happy I did. I am (another) candidate to become a DF customer but still trying to make an informed decision (?). After reviewing ALL the postings here, it seems the BIG issue was/(is?) wind speed conditions, meaning ANY wind speed =>5mph will affect the quality of the picture/video. Apparently, 'something' happen back in July/August 09 when forum members like Helicrazi and benfreedman become much happier with their X6 performance with gusts ranging 10-15 mph.
Am I right? I was at a DF demo in Saskatchewan a couple of weeks ago and, as many of you, I was disappointed it was done indoors.
Bottom line:
I am asking from you members a fresh look to the X6 technical capabilities as claimed by DF today.
Do you regret buying an X6 in the first place?
Would you recommend and X6 to a somebody (friend?) who wants to start an AP business?
Thanks in advance!

robc450 Changing video cameras from SD9 to TM300 only means changing the power in cable to the camera, as the TM 300 has a different cable. Get another power cable from DF find out which is positive and negitive cut off the SD9 end and solder on the TM 300. The other slight problem is that the TM 300 is longer than the SD9 so when you tilt fully down it will not go that far as it hits the top of the mount. The TM300 has a pullout view finder which gives it the extra length, but you will have to add more support to the mount because the present mount does not handle it. Don't know about the Canon camera for stills am happy with the LX3 I have not had any rolloing shutter issues.
