Howdy...
Just received my X6 back from DF after the update. Here are my initial thoughts....
Batteries: Longer charge. I few for 18 minutes just now (not doing any aerobatics or anything. Mostly hovering) with camera mount but no camera, and the TX still read 15.5 volts in the green for the X6 battery. I'm guessing I could have flown another 5-10 mins easily.
Wind: Lots of improvement. Manual mode seems about the same, but altitude hold (now barometric) is MUCH better, and makes you feel far more confident. I could see myself just using the altitude hold and maintaining position in windy conditions manually with the stick. GPS hold seem about the same.
Camera mounts: Quick-release is still stretching it a little, but it's a definite improvement, although your camera is now attach with rubber o-rings. I wouldn't like to see what happens if one breaks.
Other thoughts:
1) The camera mount wires seem to have even less slack than before. It's a very tight fit to hook up all the connections
2) After landing, I couldn't get the motors to shut down. Yikes! Finally figured it out that you now have to hold the 'descend' switch down for 3 seconds to stop the motors.
Haven't flown with it on an actual job yet, but feel free to ask questions.

Ben
Did you notice any tension in your power stick.... So as to lesson the movement of power when yawing.
I am having that problem with yawing and Helicrazy thought he noticed a difference on his new set-up.....

You know, I didn't notice that, but then again, I didn't have that problem before.

Hello all, was able to do some testing Sat. and Sun. Wow what a difference !!!! my first flights were in zero to 1-2 mph and the X6 held in GPS mode perfect !!!! two other flights were in wind, at ground level 7.5 mph the X6 at 30' so maybe 8-9 mph ? anyway held great !!! what a difference. the batteries seem to last longer I haven't flown to the point were it wants you to land yet I will be doing this and then read cell voltage, I still want to put my logger on it and measure Amp draw. There is a new procedure for shutting off, it's on page 45 of the new manual. so far I'm very impressed. Kudos Draganfly !!!!

hey guys, great news there. so what are the upgrades that they did? is it firmware? and they adjusted the stick? I guess i should send it back? I opted to have them send me the mounts and not sending the heli back there. have not installed the mounts yet. the flight is the same. took it out and it did the same crazy thing in the wind. had about 7 miles and it did not hold. have not taken it out of the box other than that in 3 weeks

That's a lot of money to spend on something that stays in the box :-(
Best,

i Just upgraded my stuff. what a difference!!!!! this thing was close to nailed in the sky and stayed there for damn well 15 minutes. that was with out gear but with the camera mount under....... and it was windy!! was about 10mps in the gusts and good steady 5-7 miles, more wind than i would have been comfortable using it in before in gps or altitude hold before. the altitude hold did actually work and it worked well.!! I put it out good 200 feet in front and about 40 feet high, locked the altitude with the X6 facing away from me. then i full sticked it towards me and normaly it would go way up and the fall back down and this time it was in hight fairly well. not perfect since this is a stress test from hell but what a difference!!!! Great Job Drangan!!!!!! now it to get the new landing gear and mounds put on and get this puppy to work. about time that I feel like i can trust this thing in the air, no more whining about what it cant do and start making money on what it CAN do!!!!!!!

Hi,
I am new to this forum; I am glad I fuond it... I am a photographer thinking of buying an X6 for my business. I visited DF for a demo a few weeks ago.
This update/upgrade some of you did a few months ago, did you have to pay for it? Do you know if the enhancements are included in the X6 that sells now? The battery time that is reported in this thread (someone wrote 15 minutes) is way better than what they told me in Saskatoon (about 8 minutes was a figure I remember).

Hi Foto, Welcome.
I am sure that the software upgrades are standard on the new machines....and no we didn't have to pay for it.
Battery might work for 15 minutes on an empty copter in a calm hover........ My batteries , flying the X6 and photographing with Lumix camera last 10-11 minutes...which is pretty plenty of time to photograph something....The copter comes with two.....most of us have ordered an extra set....easier in the field to revolve 4 batteries than 2.... Good luck!
